Bringing color in our homes can be easy and inexpensive. As we all know, everyone is on a tight budget, especially when it comes to spending money on things such as decorations for the home. We spend a lot of time in our home – to relax, unwind and regroup after a long day. Why not make our home very comfortable and appealing? Why not bring color and small accent pieces to add to what you already have in your home?
Tangerine-orange is the hot color this year
This year’s trends are bright bold colors – tangerines, reds, and blues. You will see this in many of the popular kitchen gadgets like KitchenAid. Orange is also the color that is really hot right now and you will see it everywhere. You don’t have to buy every piece of furniture orange but some accent pieces, like throw pillow, a throw or even small decorative balls in a bowl for a centerpiece on your coffee table.
There are many ways to add color to your home. Where do we spend time the most? Kitchen? Bathroom? I would say the kitchen. We all love to congregate in the kitchen, especially when we entertain. It seems the kitchen is the hub for the family. We cook, eat, do our homework, etc in the kitchen area. So make sure you create a space that is inviting and comfortable and a space you like to be in. By adding color, for example, small kitchen appliances can brighten up counters and make the room cheery.

I came across this article by Mary Carol Garrity that had some great decorating ideas for your home. If you are hesitant to decorate with bold bright colors to your home, just add small decorative accessories first. This way if you don’t like it, you can easily remove it because it’s not permanent. As you get accustom to the colors then you may even want to start painting a background wall in color!

Azul Fives roof top terrace
We recently got back from Mexico (Playa Del Carmen) after spending eight days at Azul Fives Resort. Skylar (7 years old) and Keelan (10 years old) love going to Mexico. It was their Spring break. Our room accomadations were amazing! We had a one bedroom suite with our very own private roof top terrace with a jetted jacuzzi tub overlooking the resort.
The suite was very pretty inside as well. My kids and I always notice how hotel hand towels are displayed. The first thing my kids will say is “These hand towels need ToweLocs!” “Mom, you need to put ToweLocs on these hand towels!”. I’m not saying this just because I’m the creator of ToweLocs, but I know this is a very common occurence in hotel rooms. I noticed I kept having to pick the hand towels off the floor. Do you ever find yourself in this situation when you are traveling? If there was a place for hand towels or ToweLocs securing the hand towels then the hotel wouldn’t have to change hand towels everyday.
Hand towels beautifully hung on their towel bars
I came prepared this time on our trip and brought both sizes of ToweLocs (1/2″ and 1″ length). I used the 1″ post ToweLocs Cafe Aulait in the hotel room and the 1/2″ post ToweLocs Blood Orange on the beach towels that we used on our beach chairs. Even though the weather was sunny and warm there was quite a bit of wind and that constantly blew our beach towels off the back of the lounge chair. So I remembered after so many times of fixing the back of my towel that I brought my ToweLocs to use for situations like this! After I put secured my beach towel to the lounge chair I didn’t have to deal with my towel falling off the back again!

I love going to Mexico to enjoy the sun, food, the people and just getting away from our gray Seattle area. Hopefully I brought some sunshine back.
